This Privacy Policy describes how Net Tools („the App“, „we“, „our“) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Android application. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
The App allows you to enter IP addresses, domain names, ASNs, hostnames, and URLs to perform network diagnostics. This data is sent directly to the relevant public APIs or network hosts as part of the tool’s functionality and is not stored by us.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
We use third-party services that may automatically collect certain data:
- Firebase Analytics – collects anonymised usage statistics such as screens visited and feature interactions. Data is collected in aggregate and does not personally identify you.
- Firebase Crashlytics – collects crash reports and diagnostic data (device model, OS version, stack traces) to help us identify and fix bugs.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) – used to deliver push notifications. A device token is generated and managed by Google; we do not store it on our servers.
2. Permissions Used
- INTERNET – required to perform all network diagnostic operations.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE / ACCESS_WIFI_STATE – used to read network and Wi-Fi connection information displayed in the app.
- CHANGE_WIFI_STATE – used by the Wi-Fi Scanner feature.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION / NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES – required by Android to scan for nearby Wi-Fi networks. Location data is used only to retrieve Wi-Fi scan results and is never stored or transmitted.
3. How We Use Information
- To provide and improve the App’s features and stability.
- To analyse anonymous usage patterns and prioritise development.
- To send optional push notifications (e.g. update announcements).
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
The App communicates with the following external services to provide lookup results:
- RIPE Stat (stat.ripe.net) – BGP / ASN lookups
- Public DNS resolvers – DNS lookups
- Public WHOIS servers – WHOIS queries
- ipinfo.io or similar – IP geolocation
- Target hosts entered by the user – Ping, Traceroute, Port Scan, SSL Inspection
These services operate under their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns about data processed by those providers.
Firebase services are provided by Google LLC and governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
The App does not maintain a server or database. No personally identifiable information is stored by us. Crash reports and analytics data collected by Firebase are retained according to Google’s standard data retention policies.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. Security
All network requests made by the App use HTTPS where supported by the target service. While we take reasonable precautions to protect information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the „Last updated“ date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
